You might see weeds, but I see wild flowers

Too hot

Today has been hot. Very hot.

Apparently 34° in Gravesend. Appropriately, hotter than hell. Hottest for the last 100 years.

Too hot for me, Whisky and the birds, but it certainly brought out plenty of butterflies on our local walks this morning. Large Whites, Speckled Woods and a few of these beauties.

Red Admiral

It was also good for dragons. I've never seen so many Common Darters.

A male Southern Hawker spent a long time 'hawking' over Walton Lake.

A fancy looking Mallard didn't seem to mind the hot weather though. He was keeping cool in the lake.

I've noticed that at certain times of the morning, there has been a Rose-ringed Parakeet, (or as some people call them, Ring-necked Parakeet), flying over Walton. I'm still trying to get a picture, but did manage a very short video clip one morning.

Very short.

There's also a very elusive Cetti's Warbler too.

The building work I mentioned in a previous post on the field is coming along. I'll do an update with pictures at some time.
